The improvement of the air quality and the elimination of 30 hotspots
throughout the country remain one of the biggest challenges of the
Ministry of Environment.
All heavy industry businesses will be monitored if everything is within the law as regards the respecting of environment conditions.
“The problems that we are facing today in this functional industry are mainly related to the air pollution and industrial activity. Industry is a contributor in discharging greenhouse effect gases, and the consequences have a global level. Very soon we will have six labs, one of them mobile, which will monitor the air quality throughout the country”, declared the Minister of Environment, Lefter Koka.
The Ambassador of the European Council in Albania, Ettore Sequi, declared that a weak point in Albania remains the law implementation.
“The implementation of the legislation for the environment in Albania is still very weak. We are here to give all the technical assistance. We have offered financial support since 2008, and so far we have given 140 million EUR in total for the environment”, Sequi declared.
The Environment Minister declared that forestation will be another important challenge of the Environment Ministry, although there are many business that have not implemented the rules.
