Four communes with minorities making most of the citizens have opposed
the draft of the territorial reform that detaches eight villages from
these communes and territories that will join with the municipalities of
Saranda, Delvina and Konispol.
All political parties represented by advisors in these communes and local units have opposed the draft with a petition sent to all Albanian institutions. The petition has been signed by the heads of the communes in Finiq, Mesopotam, Livadhja and Aliko.
Themistokli Kaishi, head of the Mesopotam commune, says that based on the last project of the administrative commission, the three villages of the Mesopotam commune will pass to the Delvina Municipality. These villages belong to the Greek ethnic minority and the Council of the Commune has decided that these villages will not be detached.
Harallamb Pandehi, head of the UHRP in Saranda, explains that the councils of these communes have decided to oppose this proposition of the parliamentary commission for the territorial reform, since it damages the basic rights of the minority and the basic criteria on which this reform has been built.
Villages like Cika, Sopiku, Shijani and Pandalejmoni, with Albanian majority, have not reacted about the new territorial division.
