Ministry of Defence Parliamentary Inspection

The NATO General Secretary, Anders Fog Rasmusen, considers the
parliamentary audition at the Ministry of Defence a basic obligation of
democracy.

Through a response letter sent to the opposition about their concern for the blocking of the parliamentary audition to the Ministry of Defence, Rasmusen says that the cooperation between institutions is on the country’s behalf, insinuating that the Ministry of Defence must show it readiness to answer to the Commission of Security’s request for the audition.

In the letter sent to the Socialist Party MP, Pirro Lutaj, the Head of NATO values Albania’s contribution in the Alliance’s operations and says that the opposition’s concern is right: “The Parliamentary audition is an essential obligation in democracy and the parliamentary countries. The Parliament has an important role for the defence issues. The close and constructive cooperation between the institutions is on the country’s interest”.

The NATO General Secretary answered to the concern of MP Pirro Lutaj, member of the Security Commission, who explained that Minister Imami is now allowing the audit and is going against the Parliamentary decision.

Lutaj asks support from the NATO General Secretary for this absurd situation that has been created in the last two months.
