The Minister of Finances and Economy, Arben Ahmetaj, defended the government’s decision to lower the VAT threshold to 2 mllion ALL.
Ahmetaj said for journalists that the main reason for reducing the threshold is having clear image for collecting the tax from bigger businesses.
The Minister declared that small businesses give 1 billion ALL from VAT, which is 0.08% of the total.
The rest, according to him, is collected from bigger businesses.
This measure, according to Ahmetaj, will not increase prices or costs for small businesses.
