The Minister of Finances, Arben Ahmetaj, said that the fiscal amnesty will benefit to hundreds of thousands of individuals.

In the first presentation of the law, Minister Ahmetaj said that the government has consulted the International Monetary Fund before taking this decision.

“Taxpayers will be freed from old partial debts, without damaging the payment equality. The law that will improve the business climate and increase revenues for the state budget has been consulted with local and foreign specialists”, Ahmetaj said.

For the period from 1996 to December 31st 2010, the government is pardoning all unpaid obligations and the fines deriving from it.

For the period from January 2010 to December 31st 2014, the government is pardoning fines with the condition that taxpayers pay the main sum of their obligation. The same principle will be used for taxes of used cars.

The government will pardon fines for unpaid social insurance, but not the contribution. This law will benefit public enterprises, especially aqueducts and energy companies.
