The Minister of Education, Besa Shahini has announced today the government initiative for the new school year according to which elementary school students 1-7 and all students of special categories up to 12th grade benefit from free books.
She considered it one of the good works realized during 2020, as an extension of the support scheme for students of the school year 2020-2021.
The minister said the initiative was achieved despite financial pressure from last year’s earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to her, this support scheme from the state budget by 800 million ALL directly helps over 250 thousand beneficiary students across the country, reducing the financial cost of Albanian families and also improving the access of students to education, especially students from Roma and Egyptians minority communities, who have a higher risk of dropping out of school.
