The Minister of Economic Development, Tourism, Commerce and
Entrepreneurship, Milva Ekonomi, was part of the forum
“Investment-Climate between EU and Western Balkan”, which was held in
Belgrade.
The forum was organized by the European Commission General Directory for good neighboring and enlargement negotiations. Its purpose is to increase investments in the region and showcase success stories with the investments made so far. The forum underlines the importance of the economic governing agenda in the enlargement strategy. The conference was held two weeks after the economic and financial dialogue between the EU, Western Balkan and Turkey. Present in this conference was the Chairman of European Commission, Johannes Hahn, who was part of the forum together with Minister Ekonomi.
The Minister spoke about Albania’s economic growth, which last year reached 3.5%, as confirmed by international institutions, including Moody’s, which foresees the economy to grow keep growing to 3.6% for this year and 3.8% for the next year.
The “Doing Business” report of the World Bank made a positive evaluation to the business climate in Albania, ranking it 58th in the world, 32 spots higher compared to one year ago. Minister Ekonomi said that his improvement was due to structural reforms, especially the ones related to strategic investments.
