A ceremony was held this Monday in Tirana for the seventh anniversary of
joining NATO. The ceremony was opened with a speech of the Mayor of
Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who sees the accession as a huge event.
Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, said he is proud that the Albanian flag is in the NATO after seven years.
“NATO accession turned Albania into a safer country”, Bushati said, thanking the strategic allies of Albania.
On the same line, Minister Kodheli said that “today we commemorate one of the biggest achievements for the country’s safety”.
“The Albanian soldiers are giving their contribution today in Afghanistan and Iraq. The peace-keeping missions have turned into a tradition of the Albanian military troops. We are able to show the best values of our armed forces”, Kodheli said.
