“It is certain that I will no longer be a minister”, said today from Vlora the Minister of Interior Sander Lleshaj, thus confirming that he will no longer hold the role in the next cabinet.
“It is certain that I will not be in this post. No one is eternal in office,” he told reporters in February.
Prime Minister Edi Rama entrusted Sander Lleshaj with the post of minister after the departure of Fatmir Xhafaj.
Until then, Lleshaj was a security adviser at the prime minister’s office.
Although he received Rama’s praise for managing the opposition’s six-month protests last year, government sources speak of a cooling of relations between the prime minister and Sander Lleshaj in recent months.
After Minister of Education Besha Shahi, Sander Lleshaj is the second minister to publicly accept the departure.
