Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
MP Sajmir Tahiri has sent a letter to Prime Minister Sali Berishaasking the government’s chief reaction for what is happening in theAlbanian mines.
Speaking on behalf of the Socialist Group, Tahiri recalled that only afew days ago a miner died and another was seriously injured, accusingthat the government has left these people to the mercy of fate andmafia that exploits the mines.
“I do not know how cruel can be public counting of the miners who werekilled in mining galleries, under your nose and almost criminalsilence. Macabre inventory of the miners who are treated like slavesand mines that have become modern-day concentration camps, wouldconcern even the most heartless man, let alone the Prime Minister ofthe country,” Tahiri said in the letter.
Tahiri requires from the head of the government to be accountable inParliament for what is happening in the galleries of death.
“What more should happen for you to be accountable in the Parliament,Mr. Prime Minister? How many other miners should be killed in thegalleries of death for you to be convinced that you should beaccountable to Parliament? What should happen for you to obey theConstitution, the Assembly’s Regulations and Laws? Mr. Prime Minister, your silence on the situation in Bulqizë cannot have an explanationother than “state capture”, corruption and subservience to the mafiacartels that have occupied Bulqiza. But at the same time, your silenceis also a symbol of ignoring the rule of law, parliamentarism and yourconstitutional obligation to account before the members,” he furthersays in the letter.
