Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Zvernec beach in Vlore was the last stop of Socialist MP Taulant
Balla, as he continues reporting the massive privatizations of the
military assets by the Defence Ministry.
“This is one of most beautiful beaches in Albania, and among the few that are still intact. The hill is one of the Albanian army assets that Imami is preparing to sell”, Balla declared.
Balla added that while pretending that tourism is a priority, the Albanian coastline is being sold without a study plan for what will happen after the privatization.
“The entire beach should be part of a full study of that priority that the government claims of being tourism. Allow me to list the assets of the Albanian coastline in Narta and Zvernec. We are talking about the former Coastline Artillery that starts from the Pusi i Mezinit, in Vlore, Narte and Zvernec, with an area of 209.300 square meters. Then there is another battalion, military unit 3080, with 124.000 square meters. As you see, there are 350.000 square meters of military properties, in the administration of the Ministry of Defence, for which Arben Imami started the sale procedure, and asked the Ministry of Economy for starting the procedures”, Balla declared.
Taulant Balla reiterated from Vlore that despite the government’s declarations, these assets of the Albanian Army are being distributed without any strategic purpose and without taking in consideration the communitarian needs, despite the close personal interests of all Albanian citizens by going against the general interests.
Ministry of Defence: List of assets, on internet
The Defence Ministry reacted by saying that the list of assets is public on the official web page and there is no abuse about it.
“Taulant Balla refuses to understand that the Defence Ministry has started the procedure of treating the excessive assets of the army. All we can do in this situation is to encourage MP Balla to keep informing the former owners, the local units and investors about the 983 assets to which the Ministry is changing the destination. Mr.Balla’s contribution in improving the image of the Ministry of Defence and increasing transparency is welcome, although we have published them on the web page since 2010, as excessive assets”, the Ministry says.
