The Albanian Police was able to arrest the Bulgarian forgers after identifying them from the ATMs cameras fro where they had withdrawn cash.
Although the video footages were not very clear, after one month, the Bulgarians were caught in a Durres hotel. Their stealing method was not new to the Albanian experts.
They were using two digital micro cameras that were placed in the ATM, copying this way the pin codes of the cards that were used mainly in Tirana, Vlore and Saranda. The thieves had not withdrawn money from Durres, where they had their residence.
After taking the data, they programmed the cards through their computers. Police says that they have copied data from 20 ATMs in the country, and have been able to steal around 150.000 EUR. However, Police was able to seize only 1000 EUR in cash, and the investigations are undergoing for finding the rest of the money, which might have been sent in Bulgaria.
