One of the main strategies used by the Prosecution and the defense
lawyers in their main conclusions for the Ilir Meta trial, was
questioning the liability of each other’s witnesses.

The main witness from the 21 people list summoned at the Supreme Court, is without a doubt Dritan Prifti, who released the video scandal that involved the former Deputy Prime Minister in a corruption affair, but also Bekim Halilaj, representative of the Halilaj Holding Group.

Prosecutor Bujar Sheshi presented 192 phone conversations made between him and Ilir Meta, in order to reject the claims that Halilaj had no close relations with Ilir Meta, and that he knew Dritan Prifti better.

The Prosecutor also declared that Bekim Halilaj had a criminal history, been sentenced in 1996 over fraud charges.

In that year, Halilaj was sentenced to five years in prison, a sentence that he never served, since he left Albania and the sentence was changed.

But also, on 16 December 2011, four people sued Bekim Halilaj at the Durres Prosecution. They claimed that Halilaj had borrowed money from them in 1995, for building a activity, and never turned them back.

The prosecution said for Top Channel that they are working for verifying this suit.
