Meta worried about Freedom House report: An alarm bell, immediate recovery is needed

President Ilir Meta said today that he is concerned about the conclusions of the Freedom House report on Albania and adds that the deterioration of democracy indicators, the decline in the governance index and the electoral process, require a reflection and response from all factors.

The report’s conclusion that “From Tirana to Tbilisi, those in power are not interested in making parliament a place of discussion” according to Meta, is a strong alarm bell.

He goes on to say: “It is time for an immediate resurgence and a new trajectory of democracy, for the rule of law and respect for human rights, in order to meet the conditions set by the European Union as soon as possible, in order to fully integrate the country without further delay.
