Meta: We support the Prosecution’s investigation

Two of the highest political figures in Albania, Ilir Meta from the
majority and Lulzim Basha from the opposition, did not avoid the
reporters’ interest to comment the arrest of the Bank Governor and of
the Inspector General at the Bank of Albania. Both of them mentioned
justice, although in different ways.
“My stance was and remains unchanged regarding the Bank of Albania scandal. We support the Prosecution and the Judiciary, and we will certainly respect their decision”, Meta declared.
“Justice matters will always remain justice matters. Politics must not influence in this process and should not motivate it, but it should follow it with great care, because the interests of Albania and of the Albanian people require for this process to have maximal transparency and an uninfluenced justice”, Basha declared.
The opposition leader expressed his concern about what might happen in the future with Bank of Albania.
“We need a judiciary uninfluenced by the oligarchic duo Rama-Meta, whose efforts are to take under control the monetary policy of Albania, which could have had catastrophic consequences for the Albanian citizens”, Basha declared.
Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta was asked if the Parliament would discharge the Bank of Albania governor.
“The majority will respect the Constitution and the laws. The majority will always work to consolidated the independence of the Bank of Albania and for increasing its integrity and credibility. We will always cooperate for this purpose even with our international partners, the IMF, the Worl Bank and the European Commission”, Meta declared.
