Meta: Victory for the left wing in June 23rd

Ilir Meta showed no political complex when he explained to the National
Council why the Socialist Movement for Integration decided to join the
Socialist Party in coalition.

He doesn’t have any complex even when he assesses that the coalition they had with the Democratic Party was not natural, but obligatory, after the results of 2009.

“We don’t have any problem with the Democratic Party. The coalition with the SP is not unnatural, as it was four years ago. It is a natural coalition”, Meta declared.

Ilir Meta had no complexes when he reminded the history of SP with SMI since 2005, when SP refused to cooperate with SMI, but then returned it in 2007, after Edi Rama took over the party, but that was broken up again by the SP and not SMI, which, according to Meta, has been a very loyal party.

“We have not broken agreements with anyone. Today we had an invitation like and we cannot refuse it for several reasons”, Meta declared.

Meta also has no complex to confirm that one of the main reasons that made them accept the Socialist Party offer was the calculation of the mandates according to the electoral system. Meta declared that he had analyzed the option to run alone in these elections, and yet they would be the kingmakers in the next elections, but that variant, according to Meta, would not bring the maximum votes from the left voters.

It is still unclear how the SMI and SP will agree on sharing the MPs, but all that Ilir Meta expects from the SP is for them to respect the agreements.

“Law is an agreement. A political agreement is a law, because modern democracy and politics go ahead with the realization of agreements and by respecting them”, Meta underlined.
