Meta Trial, experts interrogated

11/11/2011 00:00

The trial for the Meta-Prifti video scandal will continue for several
other sessions before the Court will decide if they will accept the
experts’ results.

The Penal College decided that the three experts should respond to the questions of the prosecution and defense lawyer of former Deputy Prime Minister, Ilir Meta. 10 of the Prosecution’s questions were rejected by the College as suggestive.

Prosecutor Bujar Sheshi read the first of the 37 questions, regarding the experts’ argument which says that they cannot prove if the camera-clock was used for recording the conversation. The Prosecutor asked if the camera was attached in a clock, since the ticking was heard during the entire video.

The experts declared that they cannot reply without being prepared, which obliges the prosecutor to raise suspicions for the fact that the experts are not answering about something that they have prepared by themselves.

Judge Ardian Dvorani referred to the Penal Procedure by saying that the experts needed time to respond. The prosecutor asked the experts who said that the voice level in the video file was less than 10 decibel, the necessary level for the material to be heard, but how was it possible that when the video was broadcasted, most of it was understandable.

It seems that the prosecution’s firmest point is the one related with the software that the experts have used, if they are licensed or not, and especially the software that has analyzed the ticking of the clock, for which the experts said that it is cut in two places.

The strategy of the defense is related with their seven questions, all admitted by the Supreme Court. They want to specify the meaning of the term “intervention” and “DSD deviation”, in the conclusions used by the experts for their tests. The next session will be on Monday, 11:00.
