Meta: There is time for President

After meeting with the Italian Senator, Alberto Filippi, Ilir Meta did
not comment about any possible political cooperation with Edi Rama, when
asked by Top Channel if there are chances for the Socialist Movement
for Integration to join the votes with the Socialist Party for electing a
consensual President, rather than a President from the majority, as
Berisha declared.
“I think that it is emergent to join the votes for ending the electoral reform in Parliament, because time has almost ran out, in order to end the Parliamentary reform and the issue of the immunity. As regards the Presidential election, for me it is very important to underline the extraordinary significance of this process. We are talking about building a process that should continue even in the future, even after the election of the new man or woman that will be elected as President”, Meta declared.
Although the Italian Senator, Alberto Filippi, addressed to the SMI leader as President Meta, which caused a pleasant reaction, Mr. Meta didn’t answer if he would be one of the candidates.
“I have clearly declared that I will be a candidate for the post of the SMI leader, but we have 30 years ahead of us to review the chances for running as president, when the appropriate moment would present itself, in case we would need to contribute with reforms that will come in the right time”, Meta declared.
Ilir Meta, Berisha’s ally, did not hesitate answering to questions about possible early elections, and about what would he do if Rama would invite him for a dinner.
“Early elections are unnecessary. I think that our energies should focus on the EU candidate status and one year is close enough to not think about early elections. I would accept any dinner invitation with great pleasure, with no hesitation. You know that I sent him the most beautiful flowers to his wedding”, Meta declared.
