After the final report of the Venice Commission, the Albanian political
class has no more alibis why they shouldn’t vote the justice reform.
In a press release for this reform, Ilir Meta gave a solution about the issues on which the parties disagree.
“There is no more reason to delay agreements on the final text of constitutional amends. We have expressed different opinions on some matters. I think that an objective and impartial reading of these recommendations helps us to give a solution to all matters. We have Euralius and Opdat for the disagreements, who can make a more objective reading of every opinion of Venice”, meta declared.
The Parliament Speaker spoke about the political tactics and gave an explanation about this.
“Alibis and pretexts don’t take us closer to consensus. We must push this reform ahead for the interest of our country. Any move that takes the debate deliberately away from the main focus, which is the justice reform, is in fact only political tactics”, Meta declared.
Meta said there is no reason to not pass the justice reform, but he added that this participation cannot be imposed to anyone.
“Everyone takes its own responsibilities”, he said.
The SMI leader did not speak about any Plan B, in case the justice reform consensus fails.
“The plan is to pass the justice reform. All energies should focus on this”, he said.
The Parliament Speaker reiterated the request of the force he leads for planning a concrete agenda and a political action plan for completing the reform. As regards the National Bureau of Investigation, the SMI doesn’t condition the voting on this institution.
