The Albanian Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, says that the meeting of PM
Edi Rama with President Obama and Vice President Biden is something that
goes beyond the US support for Albania.
“This visit is a clear demonstration of the strategic partnership that Albania has with the USA. It is a confirmation of the stability of our foreign policy, engagement in the joint fight against terrorism and the constructive role of Albania in the region. The messages of this visit are clear. The USA supports the reforms and appeals to deepen them, especially in the rule of law area”, he said.
By greeting the passing of the Resolution for Albania by the European Parliament, Meta underlined the need of approving without delay the justice reform.
“The resolution requires the implementation of reforms. It is a responsibility of the political class to read the resolution on the right way. It should be a guide to unite parties for the reforms that will lead to the opening of the EU accession negotiations. The resolution is an appeal to leave the rhetoric behind and focus on major priorities. I want to greet the verdict of the Democratic Party to end the conditioned relation with the Parliament”, Meta declared.
When asked about the SP-SMI coalition, Meta said that the coalition functions very normally and in a very democratic way.
