Meta: I have not been threatened

22/08/2011 16:30

Ilir Meta repeated today the same arguments mentioned by Edmond
Haxhinasto two days ago, when he spoke about the electoral reform.

In the midst of his holidays, with sportive clothes and one injured foot, Ilir Meta wanted to give the message that he is on his duty and doesn’t feel threatened.

“I think that this is a ‘summer-page’ story, and doesn’t deserve attention, especially in a press conference that is about very important matters”, Meta declared.

Regardless the persistence of the journalists who asked him about the police agents who are guarding Gjiri i Lalezit, the leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Ilir Meta categorically refused to answer.

“It is not my duty to answer to those who create such news”, Meta declared.

As for the Constitutional amends, Ilir Meta declared that he stands by his stance of 2008, when he and other SMI MPs protested against the amends. But if those amends were to be undone this time, this requires a very careful reform.

“We have been and we are in favour of realizing the Constitutional amends, but naturally, this is a process that requires a wider consensus than our will. This is a process that takes a long time and transparency, including all inner factors, not only the civil society and experts, but also the international institutions”, Meta declared.

Ilir Meta refused to say if he will return in the government, but he publicly reconfirmed his trust in the current SMI ministers.
