Meta decorates the four Petrela brothers on the International Day of the Missing Persons

On the International Day of the Missing Persons, the President of Albania, Ilir Meta, gave the post-mortem “Special Civilian Merit” medal to Bujar, Ylber, Halit and Seit Petrela, the four brothers whose parents were eliminated by the Communist regime, buried away, and their graves were only found after the collapse of the monist dictatorship.

In this ceremony, attended also by the Chairwoman of the Authority for Information from the former Secret Service, Gentiana Sula; the Chairman of the Anticommunist Association of the former Politically Persecuted, Nebil Caka, and relatives of the Petrela family, the President underlined that the International Day of the Missing Persons is an opportunity to raise our voice for the victims that disappeared during the totalitarian regime, but also for the victims that are disappearing today around the world.

The President also declared that such day reminds us that we should be even more convinced about the solid path towards the EU.
