Meta criticizes government for Berat

The Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, supported the
SMi local leaders who are asking a resolution about the reform that
makes the local government more financially independent from the
government.

Some of the requests that Meta supported, are the removal of the legal barriers that don’t allow local administration to establish and collect local taxes and fees, and that don’t allow them to take loans for public works. SMI criticized the central government interventions that damage the local autonomy, and publicly declared that the draft-budget of 2013 is discriminatory for the Berat district. He mentioned some road segments regarding this matter, and did not hesitate to also mention that decision for having one less MP from the Berat district.

“Berat will have one less MP, which is not very convincing, on my opinion. We are sure that we will have one MP, but what concerns me is that there are no plans for the main problems here, the Lushnje-Berat road, which is in a horrible state”, Meta declared.

Meta declared that in this time of a difficult economic crisis, SMI will present its own program in the elections, which is closer to the left parties and different to the current government.

“We are going towards the elections 2013 by offering a realistic alternative, because our country has all possibilities to return to a higher economic growth and better policies that will help all citizens to progress”, Meta declared.
