During a meeting of the Christian Democratic Union, the German
Chancellor, Angela Merkel, mentions her meeting with the Albanian Prime
Minister, Edi Rama:

“Every generations has its own challenges. 25 years ago, when the Berlin wall was brought down, someone thought that we had no more need to talk about peace and freedom in Europe. Then we experienced the ‘90s, the horrible wars in Balkan. This week I met with the Albanian Pm, who told me about a meeting of all Prime Ministers in Western Balkans at the London EBRD, where they could stay for the first time together as Prime Ministers, despite the may differences between Kosovo, Serbia, Croatia, Albania and Macedonia. He told me that for the first time they could talk with each other for the future, and no one thought each other as an enemy. Without the European perspective in Western Balkans, this would be impossible. This is what we have achieved in the past years, dear friends, and this is wonderful”, Merkel declared.

Rama attended a visit with the German Chancellor in Germany, in which he discussed Albania’s integration in the European Union, the mutual cooperation between the two countries and the current situation in Balkan.
