The only promise given by the German Chancellor and the French president after the summit, was the the EU remains committed for the European perspective of Western Balkan.
However, they wanted to make it clear that the talks in Berlin were not about the EU accession negotiation, which is a matter managed by the European Commission. It was a meeting for discussing the problems in the region.
Merkel said that the agreement reached between Northern Macedonia and Greece was a very positive and encourage step, which should serve as a model for the other conflicts in the region.
Merkel said that Kosovo and Serbia must work hard to go back to dialogue. For this, she received the support of the French president as well.
According to Merkel and Macron, the other challenges that remain in the region are the fight against terror and organized crime, economy, etc. The EU, according to them, is committed to help achieve a stable, calm and progressive region in Balkans.
