Podgorica was the host of the second joint meeting between the two governments, that of Montenegro and Albania, with the aim of intensifying relations between the two neighboring countries.
Albania and Montenegro, through a joint agreement engaged in the construction of the 300-meter-long bridge on the Buna River, which will connect Ulqini with Velipoja in northwestern Albania.
“It will cost about 20 million euros and if it is divided between us it is not much.”
The bridge will enable financing from the capital budget. We also have reserve funds for this matter, but in the first year will be paid only the initial funds “, said Montenegrin Prime Minister Abazovic.
Albanian Prime Minister Rama added: “This is not a simple agreement, this is an implementation agreement based on the project carried out by the agencies.
“We carried out the implementation project with our own funds, now with joint funds we will also build the bridge because, as I also told (PM) Dritan, you here in Montenegro have higher salaries and it is not right that Albania pays all the costs”.
In the meeting it was agreed on opening the border point Shen Nikola – Pulaj.
The 11 signed agreements and memoranda aim to strengthen cooperation in areas such as energy, maintenance and joint management of fisheries in Lake Shkodra and the Buna River, in the field of defense and social and cultural ones.
Prime Minister Rama expressed his satisfaction with the request of counterpart Abazovic to hold the next Open Balkan meeting in June in Montenegro.
After the meeting of the two governments, the two prime ministers had an informal meeting speaking in Albanian, a surprise of PM Dritan Abazovic for his friend Edi Rama.
