Medicament, INSTAT proves Berisha wrong

The Prime Minister Sali Berisha pretends that by placing a 10% VAT on medicine has helped reducing their market price.

INSTAT has proved the Prime Minister wrong. The latest official data indicate that the medicine price has risen with 1.8% only in September, compared to August.

The government pretended that by placing VAT on medicaments, it would stop the speculative price increase. But INSTAT data indicate that right after the 10% VAT, the medicament price started increasing.

According to INSTAT, medicament’s price rose with 1.6% compared to January, when the tax was not established. The yearly tax increase reached 8.3% for that month, and has at that same level for all months of this year, except August.
