Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future One day after Top Channel’s investigations proved that Boldemec hormones
can be easily purchased in veterinarian pharmacies, the Ministry of
Agriculture declared that they are working for an intensive inspection.
“We have investigated several pharmacies and very soon we will review their inventories. We will take measures against those who bring these hormones in Albania”, declared Sotiraq Papa, head of the Veterinary Service at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Boldemec was banned by two decisions of the Agricultural Government, one in 2006 and the other in 2011. Despite the strong measures against it, the Director of the Veterinarian Service at the Agricultural Ministry, Mr.Papa, says that smuggling is not something easy to keep under control.
“Pharmacies could have Boldemec that has remained before 2010. There could be pharmacies that are used by private veterinarians in a small gamma of medicaments. We don’t have the capacity to take all smuggling under control”, Papa declared.
A few days ago, the National Food Authority secured the Albanian consumers that the meat that is sold in our country is safe. He excluded the possibility that the farmers could use hormones for artificial growth. But it is quite the opposite in reality. The Consumer Protection Office has officially asked the Ministry of Agriculture to inspect all veterinarian products that circulate in the Albanian market, and stop everything that could damage the consumers’ health.
