The British Ambassador in Albania, Fiona McIlwham, visited the town of
Berat from where she answered to the journalists about the Presidential
election.

The Ambassador declared that the President should be someone who behaves in a consensual way, how has political support from the entire political spectrum and also from the public.

“It is not up to the international community to tell how the President will be elected. Your Constitution explains it very clearly that the President must be a figure that represents the national unity. Someone who behaves in a consensual way, who has the support of the entire political spectrum and that of the public could fulfill this role successfully. Our message, even through a project that we are organizing, is that Albania has an extraordinary potential and we see that this potential could be realized by joining the European Union. It is up to Albania and the political class to achieve these standards and objectives. For having success in these fields, must be kept in mind the progress in the electoral, parliamentary and justice reforms”, McIlwham declared.

The British Ambassador met local leaders in Berat, who upgraded her the problematic of their district.
