The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, attended the International Week of Water in Amsterdam.
Veliaj said that he is happy that after two years of reforms, the Tirana Aqueduct is now a success story. “A bankrupt company that couldn’t supply water to the capital for more than seven hours, today is bringing profits and is supplying 14 hours a day. We are preparing for the investment that will bring water for 24 hours a day”, Veliaj said.
The Mayor underlined that the Tirana Aqueduct has now become a credible institution for bank loans, to further realize big projects.
“After these reforms, we are about to sign for a loan from the EBRD which will allow us to make two main investments that will supply water from Bovilla to Astir, and Unaza e Re, which had a crisis during the summer drought. We will double the supply of water that is being filtered for the Tirana citizens”, Veliaj said.
