Mayor of Kukes beats engineer

During a civil process held in the Court offices, the Mayor of Kukes,
Hasan Halilaj, has hit engineer Muharrem Dalaci with a chair and has
punched him. Ing. Dalaci has sued him to court.

After the attack, Mayor Halilaj went to an unknown location for the authorities, while Dalaci reported what happened to the police.

“I have never experienced such a level of violence in my life, and it is unprecedented for the Court. Judge Rezarta Vigani was looking while I was being attacked, and call the police only after I was beaten. The judge asked for evidence, while the lawyer demanded an adjournment since the Ministry of Education Lawyer is on a training abroad. The attacker did not agree with the delay and he debated with the judge. When I was pulling the papers from my bag, he attacked me physically, without mentioning the offences and insults”, Dalaci declared, with clear violent signs in his face.

This trial is against the Kukes Municipality, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finances and the World Bank in Albania.

The Court’s official web page says that the object of the case is to stop the copyright infringement and the compensation of the plaintiff for their acts and omissions.

Dalaci explained that the trial started for the construction project of the Bajram Curri school in Kukes.

“I know the attacker very well, who is the Kukes Mayor and with whom I signed an agreement in 2008, which I realized according to all conditions”, Dalaci said.
