The Mat River is still being dug for inert materials, although this has
been forbidden with a special order from the Council of Ministers.
Despite Top Channel’s several reports about this environmental
catastrophe, the heavy machineries are still continuing to dig the
riverbed.
As if the construction companies weren’t enough, the law enforcement agencies are joining the side of those who are causing this massacre, by not taking action against what happens every day to the Mat River.
Several trucks and heavy vehicles have dug the Mat River during this weekend, totally undisturbed by the Lezhe Water Directory and environmental inspectors.
The police do not intervene for the violators, by not enforcing event the government decision.
The Mat River has flooded hundreds of hectares and houses in the recent years, and the residents have never been repaid for the damages caused to their crops and property.
They have been spared this winter, due to the lack of heavy rains, although the danger is always evident.
