Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Albanian Foreign Minister explained for the first time to the
Foreign Parliamentary Commission the issue of the maritime border with
Greece.
Summoned by the opposition MPs about the truth of the dialogue between the two states about this matter, Panariti declared: “There are no negotiations or groups of negotiators, but only technical treatment of this problem within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”.
Panariti added that the new agreement with the new southern border will be based on the decision of the Constitutional Court, which rejected the first agreement with Greece.
“The decisions of this court are obligatory and must be implemented in the eventual case of having a new agreement with the same object. The decision of the Constitutional Court is a guide for every future step for the maritime border agreement with Greece”, Panariti declared.
The vice Chairman of the Foreign Commission, Arta Dade, addressed some questions to the Foreign minister, among which was the ban of Top Channel’s journalist from entering Greece, together with two judges.
“We have the unprecedented case of journalist Mema who was banned at the Greek border. The political relation between the two countries has been damaged. Do you think that the negotiations in this climate could put Albania under pressure again”. Dade declared.
“These are independent problems from each other, but will be treated courageously and directly in my next visit to Greece”, Panariti declared.
But the opposition considered this session unclosed. They have addressed a letter to te Minister saying that the MPs did not have the opportunity to discuss the Minister’s answers.
