Maria’s mother seeks justice

The mother of Maria, the 17-year-old girl killed over a blood feud a few
days ago in a deep Dukagjin village, wishes that no one ever feels her
pain for her child.

Shaqe Qukaj, mother of five, wants the state to not stay silent, but act.

“That no one may ever experience this. The state should not allow this”, the victim’s mother declared.

The minor children of this woman in grief were grown through many difficulties. Maria’s mother and her children have lived with their uncles and their family was united only one year and a half ago.

“I am a mother of five. I don’t know who killed my daughter. I have grown my children through many difficulties. They have stayed most of their time at their uncles”, Shaqe Qukaj declared.

The word “blood feud” is not accepted by Maria’s mother, saying that she, Maria and the other five children had nothing to do with it.

“I have never thought that someone would kill my daughter, because she hadn’t hurt anyone. I don’t know what will happen in the future”, Maria’s mother declared.

The other family members say that the state structures are not doing anything. They say that banks offer thousands of euros for a finding a robber, but for Maria’s murderers no one has moved a finger, making them thinking about taking justice in their own hands. Maria’s family in the Omaraj village, Malesi e Madh lives in the pain of the loss and the need to grow the other children far from that wild reality.
