As the March 2nd anti-government protest, summoned by President Ilir Meta is approaching, the head of state has begun an offensive of support gathering with the international representatives in Albania.
Top Channel’s Mohamed Veliu reports that on Thursday morning the president held a meeting with three foreign ambassadors in Tirana, those of the Netherlands, Sweden and Spain.
Meta has made an English language presentation to them in, describing what he sees as evidence that a coup d’etat has been consumed by the socialist majority, for the capture of the Constitutional Court.
The meeting lasted 90 minutes.
Through this meetings the president aims to convince them that the March the 2nd protest is a legitimate and necessary act for Albania.
Internationals have not yet commented on the president’s initiative.
However, after a meeting with Meta last week, US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim stated that “we expect the Albanian leaders to behave in a way that is responsible and for the benefit of the Albanian people.”
