Map of underground wealth

The Ministry of Energy published a full study about the underground
reserves of Albania, which, according to the experts, are very diverse.

“We have discovered 437 tons of oil, 13 billion m3 of natural gas, 800 million tons of coal, 57 million tons of chrome, 69 million tons of copper, 300 million tons of ferronickel  and 230 million tons of nickel-silicate”, declared the Minister of Energy, Trade and Energy, Nasip Naco.

The underground wealth has been the biggest Albanian export, since the communist era.  

“The search and discovery project have made the mining industry realize a production of more than 50 million tons of oil, 10 billion m3 of natural gas, 38 million tons of coal, 25 million chrome minerals, 21 million copper, 56 million ferronickel and dozens of millions of industrial mining or construction materials”, Naco declared.

The Ministry has published the map with the main underground wealth sources, which are extended all over the country.

“The Map shows 15 oil sources, 6 gas sources, 500 inert mineral sources: 293 of which are chrome, 108 of copper, 21 ferronickel and 45 coal”, Naco declared.

The Ministry says that the map will help encouraging foreign investments in the mining industry sector.
