Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Manufacturers oppose the 500% increase of fines for companies that employ people illegally.
According to the manufacturers that mainly produce clothes and shoes for export, and who have more than 100.000 employees throughout the country, this legal amend will leave room for abuses with the tax inspectors, increasing the problems even more.
“The 500% increase of the fine will not stop informality that in this sector is very low. This measure will increase corruption and will create a dishonest market competition”, declared Lindita Legisi, Chairwoman of the National Chamber of Clothing Producers.
“This will push administrators and inspectors to lean towards corruption, rather then implementing the law”, declared Sajmir Bidaj, from the National Chamber of Clothing Producers.
The Board Director of the National Chamber of Clothing Producers, Bardhi Sejdarasi, says that in parallel with this drastic measure, the government must approve the project for the online registration of workers, so that the inspectors will be unable to abuse.
Manufacturers say that this industry has experienced a 24% fall compared to the same period of one year ago, and that they are trying to survive to the economic crisis.
Present in the regional and international meeting was the Minister of Economy, Edmond Haxhinasto, who promised a package of measures that according to him would help the manufacturing industry.
