Man asks compensation after found innocent

After five years in detention and after was found innocent for the
accusations of participating with the Cerrik band, the 57 year old
Skender Cano accuses the authorities.

After receiving the verdict of the Court of Serious Crimes, he confirms for Top Channel that the people who committed the Cerrik Massacre are others.

“Justice and its injustice destroyed my life. This happened because of some people who gave a wrong turn to this event. The massacre was caused by other people who are abroad and the Prosecution knows very well who they are”, Cano declared.

Two weeks after freedom, Cano was present at Court together with his minor son, confirming that he will use the verdict to ask compensation, so that he can also convince the other people, besides justice, that he has nothing to do with the massacre of 1997.

“I am morally destroyed. Wherever I ask for a job they see me as a criminal and don’t hire me. I will open a case for taking back what I have lost”, Cano declared.

“Skender Cano is the only one who was found innocent at the First Degree for the charges. Not only for the injuries caused to the police officers, but also for the killing of six others. The Court of Appeal found him innocent even for the last charge, that of killing the police officer Qemal Mehmeti,
