The recent UNICEF report reveals the inability and corruption of our officials for giving economic help to families in need.59% of the families that receive economic help benefit it without
deserving it, while 47% of these families that should be included in
these schemes are excluded. Experts of this report have identified that
57% of the children that live with families that receive economic
assistance do not fulfill the basic needs of their lives, such as food,
health care and education.

“Children are not well developed if they do not receive the necessary food and when the do not go to school. Problems appear afterwards. Poverty reduction efforts should start with the children. The economic assistance that is given today to poor families does not change the conditions where the children of these families are grown. For every single dollar that you do not invest in education, you lose 100 million USD annually, because there are malnourished children”, declared Detlef Palm, representative of the UNICEF Albania.

The report says that 50% of the children that suffer chronic diseases do not benefit regular medical consultations and 65% of the children that do not go to school regularly belong to poor families.
