Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The EU Commissioner for Enlargement for Interior Affairs, Cecilia
Malmstrom, declared that Albania should vote the three remaining laws
that demand qualified majority, and that are a condition for the EU
candidate status in the EU.
Malmstrom, who met Prime Minister Berisha, expressed all the support of the EU to Albania’s achievements, which were recognized at the recommendation that the Commission made on October.
According to the official press release from the Council of Ministers, Malmstrom declared in the meeting with the Prime Ministers that as for the passing of the integration-related laws, including the three laws required in the European Commission, need the contribution of all political parties.
The EU Commissioner underlined that the passing of these laws with qualified majority doesn’t serve only to the government, but also to the Albanians and their project to integrate in the EU.
As regards the next elections, Berisha guaranteed the Commissioner that the government will make everything possible for a free and honest electoral process. By underlining once again the request for a bigger number of observers in the elections, Berisha expressed his conviction that the political parties will show the strong will for implementing the consensual Electoral Code, so that the elections of June 2013 can reach the highest international standards.
