By postponing the decision for Albania for a voting in 2019, the EU has given one year to Albania’s political adversaries to attack each other as an obstacle for the EU integration.
This morning, the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, congratulated the Albanian people and attacked the adversaries.
“On the same time that the European council posted a congratulation for all Albanians, the new Essadists of Albania are throwing their vulgar stones against the government, blaming them for an imaginary failure in Europe. Praying that you don’t forget these endless shows of brutality against our common goal”, Rama wrote.
The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, declared that it is clear that the negotiations have not been open and Albania must pass the same procedure once again, and that if the conditions are not met, the negotiations are still at risk.
The rest of the opposition, the SMI, also blames the government that the negotiations didn’t open this year.
The President of Albania, SMI founder and former leader, appealed Albanian parties to welcome the conclusions of the council with realism and responsibility.
The EU Ambassador to Tirana said that this is a clear agenda. “In the EU this means that there is commitment for this date. We are happy, because it allows us to move faster”, Vlahutin said.
The US Embassy congratulated Albania and said that this was a positive decision which recognizes the progress in key reforms. The USA encouraged Albania to accelerate its pace with the judiciary reform, the fight against corruption and organized crime.
