The three vacancies at the Central Election Commission will be filled
soon, after the majority and the Commission of Laws recommended their
voting in Parliament.
The opposition was against the two propositions of the Socialist Party: that of Denar Biba, returning to the post he left two years ago, and Edlira Jorgaqi.
The Democrats say that they do not complete the integrity criteria, an argument that the Socialists didn’t accept.
“Mr.Biba was vice chair of this commission. He left his duty illegally. Mrs.Jorgaqi lied in front of the Parliament, and brought a falsified CV”, declared the Democratic MP, Arben Ristani.
The Chairman of the Commission of Laws, Fatmir Xhafaj, answered: “They are first class professionals. Mrs.Jorgaqi has been working at the Ministry of Justice since 1992, as specialist, despite the political rotations. It means that she has a professional value. Mr.Biba has worked in important institutions, such as the Supreme Court”.
Mr.Xhafaj answered to any remark of the opposition, but he didn’t mention a sensible matter that was reminded by all of his majority colleagues. They say that the government coalition should take the majority of the Central Election Commission.
The Socialist Movement for Integration, Spartak Braho, declared that the CEC is wrong with this format, with four members from the opposition and three from the majority.
“We need to fix this, so that the law is implemented properly”.
The Socialist MP, Armand Subashi, underlined: “With this CEC, the elections may be undermined by this opposition at any time”.
The ruling parties need four CEC members to take its majority, but the Parliament will complete only the three remaining vacancies before 2013.
