Majority approves Leskaj for SSA

The Parliamentary Commission of Economy approved only with majority
votes the candidacy of Bujar Leskaj for the Supreme State Audit, as
decreed by the President.

The Opposition had expressed earlier that they were against Leskaj’s election, through the leader Edi Rama, but the MPs preferred to not participate in the voting and only gave arguments why the Socialist Party doesn’t agree with this candidacy.

“My concern is the procedure. We cannot vote only the candidates that the ruling party prefers. This cannot be called a competition”, declared the MP Erjon Brace.

The Democratic MPs at the Commission declared that Mr. Leskaj is not involved in politics, because he has resigned from his functions at the Democratic Party.

“Mr. Leskaj is not a member of the Democratic Party, or of any other structure of it. I have received Mr. Leskaj’s resignation letter four months ago and I am showing it to you”, one of the Democratic MPs declared.

Mr. Leskaj held a long presentation speech on how he would change the work at the SSA.

“My priorities will be the intensification of the war against corruption and against public property. War against economic abuses in the state administration have a great role”, he declared.

The Socialist MP, Andis Harasani, made an interesting question to the majority MPs, about Mr. Leskaj’s candiacy:

“For the other candidacy, that of Sali Shehu, also a former Democratic Party member, you said that he was politically involved and that the Democratic Party needed him, so you invited him to return. Doesn’t the Democratic Party need Mr. Leskaj too”, Harasani asked.
