Majko to critics: Opposition is coherent

The Parliamentary voted the immunity lifting and ended the long
legal-political battle between the majority and the opposition. The
opposition joined the votes with the majority on this initiative,
although they refused it on August sixth.

But what did the opposition profit from this move? Socialist MP and representative of the opposition for this case, Pandeli Majko, spoke on Top Channel about the Constitutional amend package that was rejected by the majority.

Majko declared that when talking about Constitutional amends, it is not a matter of losing or winning. According to him, the immunity issue was considered closed for the opposition, while the Constitutional amends issue was part of a political position that very soon will be the center of their attention.

To the critics that the opposition backed off in front of the majority’s pressure, the Socialist MP answered by saying that it is not about backing off, but about rational stances. He declared that the SP has always kept a coherent position, even for the matter in question, the immunity lifting.

During the voting session, Majko asked the correction of the part that is related with the rights of the MPs and judges. Was this a lack of seriousness by the majority and the opposition when passing this important decision? Majko’s answer is “no”.

“No, it’s not a lack of seriousness. We intervened in the last minute with the cooperation of Constitutionalist experts, so that the MPs and judges will not be equal in front of the law, because the property of judges is not the word, but the verdict”, Majko explained.

During the “Act Now” initiative in Elbasan, the US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, blamed the political class for leaving the country last in the region as regards the integration processes. By commenting this declaration, Majko said that its context is very clear and the appeal comes from the friendliest and most strategic country of Albania. According to Majko, this appeal is for abandoning the culture of territorial
