Majko: Prosecution is being robbed

The Socialist MP, Pandeli Majko, declared that the opposition will ask
the government to respect the independence of the General Prosecutor.

Considering the General Prosecutor the “Achilles Heel” for the functionality of the Albanian state, he accused the government that this is not about replacing the individual, but taking an institution under control.

“This is the last independent institution and I think that with the new President, it’s only a matter of time before they remove its independence. Despite the procedural history that will be followed by the ruling party, the stance of the opposition is very clear. We will oppose this and will ask to respect the independence, as a Constitutional continuity of the most important institution of the prosecution justice”, Majko declared.

Majko gave this press release after a meeting with the structures of the Socialist Party in Korce.
