Majko: Institutions led by Berisha

The former leader of the Euro Socialist Forum, Pandeli Majko, returned
to the Socialist youth that are having a holiday trip at the Albanian
Riviera.

The main topic of their conversation with the former Prime Minister, Pandeli Majko, were the current political issues and especially the replacement of the Secret Service Director. Majko declared that this is a concerning signal for the Albanian society that according to him is being led by a single individual, Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

“The Secret Service is the last institution that wasn’t changed after 2005. Now that the President decreed the vice of Gazidede before 1997, with whom we have a state history, this has turned into a monocratic institution, led only by one single man. We say that we have a Parliamentary Republic, a President, a Constitutional Court, a Supreme Court, independent institutions, but unfortunately, with the recent move, we must tell ourselves that this country is under the orders of one single man, who in fact is making a big mistake, because in these cases, the mistake comes from ignorance. In some cases the mistake comes from given political interests, but on the case of the current Prime Minister, this is a repeated history. A repeated history cannot be a mistake”, Majko declared.

With this argument Majko treated the immunity case in front of the Socialist youth, saying that the majority is insisting about it because now they can control all important institutions of the state.

“What we must be concerned about is the fact that these government officials are not afraid of being investigated, because the judges, prosecutors and the Secret Service, together with the President, are appointed by only one party”, Majko declared.
