Macedonian parties fight for Albanian votes before local elections

The local election fever has involved all political parties in
Macedonia. The October 15th elections will be the first ones organized
after the new coalition government.

According to Deutsche Welle, Zaev’s Social Democratic Movement is still fighting for Albanian votes. The same thing is being done by Gruevski’s VMRO DPMNE, whose rhetoric against Albanians has softened, and they are mentioning their rights very frequently.

The Social Democratic Movement keeps saying that they will work for a united society, a concept they mean to realize through a partnership with Ali Ahmeti’s BDI, with which they have a ruling coalition.

“We want to develop our ideas for a united society in Macedonia even in a local level. We offer the best solutions, not only as regards candidates, but also as regards the program. As government partners, we will support each other in several communes”, declared Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

His party has ran with Albanian candidates in several communes, where they received good results with the June 11th elections.

Gruevski, on the other hand, insists that the VMRO offer is dedication, responsibility and knowledge, and, as such, it will be the best idea for the chaos and insecurity that, according to him, was caused by the LSDM.

The electoral campaign for the June 15th elections lasts 20 days. 19 political parties and coalitions are running for 80 municipalities.
