Luarasi on campaign: It’s not TV’s fault

The member of the Media Monitoring Board (MMB), Iris Luarasi, declared
that the TV stations that broadcast the electoral campaign should show
balance.

“No TV station benefits from the disappearance of Basha or Rama. Both candidates should be present, because it is a democratic race”, Luarasi declared.
However, on the case of Top Channel, which has rejected pre-edited electoral video materials offered by the Democratic Party for its candidate, she emphasized that it is not Top Channel’s fault.
What is happening is not that Top Channel doesn’t want to broadcast Basha, but Basha doesn’t want to be filmed by Top Channel”, Luarasi declared.

MMB member expressed her critics towards the Central Election Commission decisions, which, according to her, were not appropriate.

“One of the things that do not function properly is the CEC decision that says that the broadcasting time should be sent to the MMB beforehand. This decision was taken two weeks after the campaign had started”, Luarasi said, answering to the critics addressed to the MMB.

“I do not understand how the MMB can pretend to change the Electoral Code, when even the political parties are not allowed to do this”, Luarasi added.
