The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, insisted for the justice reform and said
that the victims are often women. He brought as example the case of a
woman who lost her children after divorce and the right to properties,
saying that those who are rich and powerful buy justice, while those who
are poor are the victims.
The 58 constitutional amends, according to the US ambassador, offer a clear mechanism to evaluate the honest ones and to remove those who are corrupted and incapable.
Maybe due to the recent declarations of justice officials, who said the reform was not all-inclusive, the ambassador asked|: “For how long will people have to wait for the rich and powerful to stop saying they are not happy with the justice reform?”
The meeting for the justice reform discussed the violence against women and the legal mechanism that protects them.
“As we speak, the support and compensation to the gender discrimination and violence has many flaws. Most of the victims are women, and the procedure that protects them is very weak. The criminal procedural legislation is missing”, said Vasilika Hysi, Socialist Party MP.
“Our current justice system and protection procedures, the chain reaction, needs to wake up. All institutions need this, starting from police, which is the first contact for a violated woman. ER doctors, prosecutors, judges, are the other chains”, said Majlinda Bregu, Chairwoman of the National Council of Integration.
