Lu: “Albania, in the era of Al Capone”

He declared that the US will offer a strong assistance for the Bureau of Investigation, adding that this is a strong warning for the criminals who want to get near to politics.

“Albania has powerful criminals with political ties, although they have committed crimes. One of these cases is that of Emiliano Shullazi, who was arrested recently. He has been accused over many years for murder and drug traffic. Albania needs to work more against corruption, because the situation is chaotic. The citizens are ready to remove these corrupted people from politics and the government. We had the same problem in the USA, during the time of Al Capone. He was able to cheat the justice system thanks to his ties with the police, justice members and municipalities. The successful efforts to remove killers, traffickers and rapists from the Parliament and local institutions will result with a lower impunity level for crime bosses. This is a warning for criminals who want to get near to politics. They will be unable to do this. They will end up in prison. This will stabilize the problematic situation in Albania. Especially the Bureau of Investigations, which will be one of the important institutions. This is a commitment that the USA will support by cooperating with the Albanian authorities and the FBI Director. Edi Rama visited the FBI offices this April. There will be a serious investigative group which will offer good training with the FBI agents, to make sure that they will do a good work, and they will be supervised. Albania needs to fight the organized crime. This is a reform for the Albanian people, because we want to support them.
